Submissions

You must have had some experience with managing the challenges of ‘mental health’ at some point in your life ie; depression, anxiety, psychosis, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorders, eating disorders, personality disorders, dissociative disorders, mood disorders, schizophrenia and anything else I’ve missed.

We accept original poems on any topic and style, relating to mental health and we can link back to you.

Not all poetry has to rhyme.

We accept original artworks and photographic images to go with your poem with a link back to the artist.

Your poetry submission must not be previously published in print, E-zines, magazines, journals or any other publications and online. Personal blogs are OK.

If you submit your poem to any other publishers for publication in print, E-zines, magazines, journals or your work becomes successful, you are required to inform them that your work was First Published in Lucid Blue Lines (previously Head Lines) and reference appropriately and link back to Lucid Blue Lines.

Simultaneous submissions to multiple publishers, E-zines, magazines, journals are NOT permitted.

Multiple submissions are OK.

You are responsible for the originality of the work you submit.

Write a few words to be included as contributor’s note under your poem and a short Biography to be included on the Contributors Page

Please proof read your submissions and check for any typos and grammatical errors.

Write “Copyright © year (Your Name)” after your poems.

Submit 1-2 of your best poems in the body of your e-mail, NOT as an attachment to:

The Editor,
Lucid Blue Lines,

jodinedbutler@gmail.com

Write ” Submission” in the subject line.

Submissions are open year-round.

Good luck and I look forward to reading your wonderful poetry! Jx

Wow I am so rapt to have this opportunity. I am a New Zealander and proud of it. I am quite shy about sharing my poetry in case it isn’t good enough, but who knows… right?

I’m sure it will be fine! None of us are perfect. Some poets want things a certain way despite ‘the rules’. I look forward to reading your poetry 🙂

I agree a great idea, as with the intensity of many individuals within the mental health system, poems I feel help to gets to the depths of who we are and give great insight, and as those still searching for answers one poem can mean a rainbow!

Cheers Lynda! I think the more spaces where we can be together to get support AND express ourselves creatively through poetry, the better! I do hope you have a poem or two stashed away somewhere you would like to share. Jx

Hi my poem was published this year in the Hearing voices magazine…. does that rule it out of ‘Head lines submission’?

I’m so sorry Heather but I’ve only just found your comment from 2010 tonight! Unfortunately it does. Have you written anything new as I am accepting poetry submissions now… Jx
